Recently I had a conversation with a friend in which we discussed what we were planning to wear to TCR Art Director Paolo Jackson’s upcoming wedding. The dress code per the invite is “Black Tie Optional”, which basically means you can dress as formal as black tie (i.e. tuxedo) if you’d like, but it’s not required. My friend was saying he was thinking about wearing a white tuxedo, and though I’m confident this particular friend could pull off a white tuxedo in any other scenario, I reminded him that one should never out-dress the groom.

I think there's a common misconception that the more you do, the more stylish you are. Louder colors and patterns, a bunch of accessories, a number of layers, an extraordinarily high #menswear pant roll, etc. A lot of people see trends and copy them, and a lot of times they overdo it in an attempt to be stylish, rather than putting some thought into whether or not a particular trend fits their personality and style. Once a month the southeast end of Discovery Green transforms into a mini-flea market for local artisans to show and sell their goods. The market features an array of artful crafts, vintage furniture and other items, and locally produced foodstuffs. Last Saturday was our first time checking it out, and it was a really good time. Last Friday we hosted RAW at the shop. While we could have just had a denim sale, we thought it would be more fun if we made a party of it. Our friends Charlie and Tan are a couple of the sushi chefs that work at Uchi, probably the most hyped and popular Japanese restaurant in Houston (and deservedly so).
